Censured images of the prophet, MOCRA’s wall, Cardinal O’Malley on BC’s crucifixes

A museum in the “stone age emirate” explores Islam’s “long tradition of figurative images,” only “strictly forbidden in religious buildings.” [more.] But see here for a book which blackens out images of the prophet.

At MOCRA, walls are literally moved to make way for religious art, and it “serves a great function by creating a line between stages of the Passion of Christ.”

Sean P. O’Malley (did you know he had a blog?!), cardinal of Boston, will have none of the criticism of BC for posting crucifixes. “I think the intolerance is on the part of those who do not want us to exhibit these symbols of our faith,” he says.
