Ami Eden asks on his new blog The Telegraph: “Does Maxim have a Jewess problem?” The evidence? Maxim’s five “unsexiest women alive” all have some Jewish angle. In Eden’s estimation they are: “Sarah Jessica Parker (Jewess), Amy Winehouse (Jewess), Sandra Oh (plays Jewess on top-rated television drama), Madonna (Kabbalist) and Britney Spears (ex-Kabbalist).” HT: Jewess, who write also on the FOXNews story of non-Jewess Halle Berry (who neither belongs nor appears on Maxim’s list), who apologizes for her comment on Jay Leno’s show about big Jewish noses.

(Right) From JTA’s “Barbie-Bratz feud: Two Jews and a shifting definition of beauty” on Bratz dolls, “created in 2000 by Isaac Larian, an Iranian Jewish immigrant-turned-toy entrepreneur, who had set out to create an anti-Barbie.” Barbie, which has “been criticized by many parents as being overly-sexualized and
therefore bad examples for little girls,” was of course also created by a Jew, Mattel co-founder Ruth Handler, the daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants.
Sincerae posts on Makan “Max” Emadi’s Islamic erotica (see my interview here, and articles here and here) and Saudi Arabians’ “silent obsession” with sex. Sincerae cites Sandra Mackey’s The Saudis: Inside the Desert Kingdom, but a reader, who is reminded of “‘Girls Gone Wild,’ the ‘Taliban Edition,’” asks for a clarification. Sincerae replies: “I hate to talk about that undercurrent in detail, but the most I will say is that I have seem, been through and heard A LOT of things from not just foreigners but Turks too, especially Turkish females:)” Emadi was also up for an Erotic Award 2007, and was covered in this IPC story, though it’s got little in the way of innovative commentary. [Most Sincere]
Joey O’Connor posts on his blog on “New Architectural Renderings for The Grove Retreat Center”: “A quiet retreat to spend time with God, grow with others in Christ, explore creativity and all of the wonderful God-given gifts He has lavished on all His children … What we value: Christ, Community, Creativity, Contribution, Culture. What are you looking for in a creative retreat center for the arts? I’d like to know…” HT: The Aesthetic Elevator.
Still on the doll theme, Maya Escobar’s “Acciones Plásticas” are on exhibit at St. Louis-based Bruno David. The works are inspired by MySpace profiles and YouTube videos, and, according to the gallery, “the series is very self-reflective of the artist as it looks at the varying roles that identify her as a daughter of a Guatemalan father and a Jewish mother.” HT: Jewess, and see Escobar on Jewess and on the Orthodox Jew.
