Arts Roundup: The Largest Carpet and Jesus’ Color

August 1st, 2007 by Menachem Wecker

Abu Dhabi now owns the world’s largest hand-woven carpet, reports the Daily Times. It is green, weighs 45-tons, cost US $8.5m, and it resides at Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan mosque. Photo: Times Online (UK).

Joe Carter at Evangelical Outpost writes on “What Color Should Jesus Be?” citing Andy Jackson’s post on SmartChristian.com about a sermon from John Piper, “What do you think of pictures of Jesus?” It’s a great discussion, and I will weigh in when a new piece of mine on depictions of Jesus comes out.

And in other news: a great flags to Christian art tale, evangelization on the web (including Christian art) and Britain’s only “Muslim quizmistress” (with mention of Sharia law and art).
