Tom & Jerry: A Jewish Conspiracy

February 25th, 2007 by Menachem Wecker

Is Tom and Jerry a Jewish conspiracy to change European’s disgust for mice, because Jews were compared to mice in the Holocaust? Iranian University professor Hasan Bolkhari thinks so.

In the above lecture, posted on Memri TV, Bolkhari refers to the “Jewish Walt Disney Company” (see a Post article and Straight Dope on the rumor Disney was anti-Semitic) and its show Tom and Jerry (the show was MGM, making it competition to Disney).

Bolkhari tells his students the public so devoured Tom and Jerry, “because of the cute antics of the cat and mouse, especially the mouse.” He notes though Jerry beats up mercilessly on Tom, the mouse is loved nonetheless for several qualities: nice, clever and cute.

He then stresses that 19th century Jews, more than anyone else, hoarded money, which led Hitler to so despise them. Although Bolkhari did acknowledge the Holocaust (he mentions Schindler’s List), he notes that Jews were often called “dirty mice,” which led them to use Tom and Jerry to try to change that perception in Europe (nevermind the show aired in the U.S., not Europe).
