Looted Afghani artifacts, which are continually streaming out of the country, might be paying off insurgents, says the International Council of Museums. [CBC]

Looting aside, Mohammed Akbar Salam is doing his best to start an art revolution after the fall of the Taliban and its restrictive views of art. “Afghanistan’s borders opened up, and we had access to the Internet. We could connect with people abroad, so everyone is now looking for a new style.” [AP via Yahoo]

Kurt Schubert, who founded the Austria Jewish museum died at age 83. He was also called “one of the great pioneers of Christian-Jewish dialogue.” [AP via JPost]

In an interview about his new book, The Castle in the Forest, Norman Mailer, pictured, says: “I believe God is a great artist, a great creator, and is doing the best that he or she can do against serious odds.
